Abstract:
Static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) is used to improve the voltage stability and fault ride through capability of wind farm based on fixed speed induction generator. The STATCOM uses PWM technique to control the switching of STATCOM switching devices with high frequency of 2 KHz. The robustness of STATCOM control system is investigated during state steady state and transient conditions including wind power variation and symmetrical fault at point of common coupling (PCC). The overall study is carried-out using SIMLINX environment.
